lent
this year i decided to participate in the season of lent by giving up meat on fridays [no big deal really unless someone is eating korean bbq in front of me] and cappucino blasts. yup, you read right. CAPPUCINO BLASTS. and not just on fridays...every day except sundays. and even then i'm going to try not to get one. i know it sounds silly...but this really is a sacrifice for me. i don't think i realized how dependent i got on this stuff. and it's really really hard not to have one 4X a week. i mean, even getting it 4X a week was a stretch from my normal daily hits. so here i am, in cappucino blast rehab...otherwise called lent. it's shameful really, when i think about it. Jesus fasted forty days and nights and i'm struggling with giving up meat once a week and a drink six times a week. the irony is, it really DOES make me think about Him more throughout my day, bcoz whenever i start feigning for one, i remember i gave it up, and then i naturally remember WHY i gave it up, and then my thoughts naturally drift to Christ and what lent signifies and eventually, even to Easter and the significance of the resurrection. but then again i suppose that's the purpose of lent.
