just about 20 minutes ago, one of my neighbors popped her head in to say hello. we chatted for a bit, and then out of nowhere she says, "so, you and emmanuel are gonna move in together now huh?" and i said, "no, not yet. i'm moving first and he's gonna move in after the wedding." to which she replied, "oh. wow, you guys really follow the rules." and i dunno why, but at that moment i just felt really awkward. i wasn't sure how to respond to it, so i just said, "well, no...i mean, i guess we try." and then there was this wierd pause and she said, "okey, well see yah later" and left.
i never know how to respond to ppl who think christianity is just about "following the rules." as far as i know, most ppl don't like rules...they like freedom. christians are no exception. but how do you explain that you DON'T want to move in together before the wedding? how do you explain that you actually WANT to abstain til after the wedding? how do you explain that without being made to look like some kind of freak? the fact that i'm christian doesn't mean i always follow all the rules. heck, ask anybody who really knows me! =P
