these past 2 weekends have been devoted to weddings. first, it was my collegue and friend, chindia, then my friend jamie. both weddings were beautiful, yet very different! but that's one of the things i enjoy the most about weddings...if they reflect the couple, it's anything but ordinary!
chin's wedding was all vintage sophistication and intimate elegance. her ceremony took place in a beautiful old catholic church, and cocktails and dinner were at the ritz-carlton here in pasadena...very posh, but because it was a smaller wedding [about 120 ppl] it wasn't grandiose. the style was all chin and it was lovely!
jamie's wedding was much bigger...about 400 guests! but amazingly, the ceremony was very intimate. sam even surpised everyone by interrupting the ceremony with a song! the reception too, went very smoothly. and it started off on a fun, vibrant note, thanks to the planning of the bride & groom, who had someone sing "be our guest" as white-gloved waiters entered the ballroom two-by-two, with silver platters raised high! a GREAT way to kick-start the festivities! the nite ended with lots of dancing...even eman got up on the dance floor and got his uhm...groove...on. =P
even though i wasn't part of the wedding party for jamie's wedding [i was a bridesmaid at chin's] i was considerably more nervous at jamie's than at chin's. why? coz i was one of the coordinator's for jamie's. thank goodness, i had susan & sunhee w/me...god bless them! susan was seriously a god-send. without her encouragement and expertise [she had coordinated countless weddings on her own before this one] i don't think it would have gone so well. but thanks to her, sunhee, and countless other ppl who volunteered to help, we were able to set up everything on time. =) and ppl were very gracious to us too...we got a lot of compliments and had several ppl tell us that we should do wedding planning/coordination professionally! so susan and i are going to start thinking of names and stuff for our little side business! i'm so excited! as tiring and stressful as it can be to coordinate a wedding, it's also fun! and if the guests have a good time, and the bride & groom are happy w/the outcome, then i'm happy too. =)
