mentoring?
i may have unwittingly fallen into a mentoring relationship. i'm the mentor. and i'm quite perplexed about the whole thing. i like this girl a lot, and we get along, and she's fun to be around. i'm sorta in the "getting to know you & develop this new friendship phase" but more and more i get the feeling that she's looking for more of a mentor figure. i dunno what to do. i don't want to be her mentor, i just want to be her friend. but the way our conversations have been going...it's becoming more clear to me that another friend is not what she's looking for. so do i say something? what am i supposed to say? do i ignore it and just try to "steer" our relationship through the friend door and away from the mentor/mentee door? does it have to be either or? i don't wanna be viewed as a mentor. that just opens a can of worms. those kind of relationships are emotionally more taxing [i think] and i just don't want to be "looked up to" in any way. plus, there's more pressure to say the right things, react the right ways, etc. but i dunno what to do about it at this point.
